The Association of Lung Cancer Patients Wings of Hope was founded in January 2025, initiated by those who believed in the power of collective action.

The Association of Lung Cancer Patients Wings of Hope from Tuzla provides psychosocial, informational, and logistical support to individuals affected by lung cancer. The Association is also available to assist family members of patients. Its core goals are to offer all forms of support and assistance to those affected — including informational, psychological, and logistical aid — as well as to promote disease prevention and healthy lifestyle development. It also aims to educate patients, their families, and the wider public in the interest of prevention.

Foreword by the Head of the Oncology Clinic, and the initiator of the founding of the Wings of Hope Association, Professor Dr. Šefika Umihanić

Dear visitors,
Welcome to the platform dedicated to people facing a lung cancer diagnosis — a place born out of the need for unity, understanding, and support.

As the head of the oncology clinic and someone who shares daily moments with patients and their families, I deeply believe that no one should face this battle alone. Lung cancer is a serious and complex disease, but what brings us together here is not just the challenge — it is also hope, strength, and the readiness to face each day together.

At the University Clinical Center Tuzla, where our team has been dedicated for years within the Oncology and Radiotherapy Clinic, we strive to provide top professional care, modern therapeutic methods, but also something equally important — human warmth and understanding. Thanks to our experience, multidisciplinary approach, and continuous improvement, our goal is not only to treat but also to empower every patient to be an active participant in their own healing process.

This page is designed as a space where patients, family members, healthcare professionals, and friends can find reliable information, share experiences, and above all — feel seen and supported.

May this corner of the internet be a source of strength, knowledge, and human connection for you. Our teams are here for you, not only as professionals but also as your companions on the journey to healing.

On behalf of the entire team, I express the hope that this platform, symbolically named "Wings of Hope," will bring you exactly that — the strength to rise above the illness, the support to never feel alone, and the belief that even the toughest days can be easier when we share them together.

Respectfully,
Prof. dr. Šefika Umihanić
Head of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Clinic
